Pete started in radio in Pendleton, Oregon at KTIX (the “Big X”) several decades ago, doing a classical show from 7:00 to 9:00 am on Sunday mornings. Surprisingly, he discovered his audience was mostly mill workers coming home from the overnight shift. Pete also volunteered at KWAX, in Eugene, Oregon, and KBPS in Portland, Oregon.
Pete’s loves include his wonderful wife (Pat) his dogs (Dixie and Holly), Bach, Brahms, Scott Joplin, Art Tatum, Wynton Marsalis, Fats Waller, Diana Krall, Judy Collins, Dave Brubeck, The Beatles, Lorraine Feather, Peggy Lee, Oscar Peterson, Safire, Spinal Tap, Tom Lehrer, Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, Sviatislov Richter, a few conductors, almost all jazz, and Salida, more or less in that order.
Mixed Bag with Pete is available to hear as an archived show for two weeks from the original broadcast date. This service is provided by Radio Free America, just click on the button below to go to kHEN's archive page to see the latest archived shows.
