Sometimes you remember where you were, sometimes fortune erases.
Nostalgia we never forget even though the memory’s barely true,
Words and music recalling faces, some we never really knew.
Memories clouded by desire become facts that never were.
We remember him or her with a fondness that was never sure.
There were all those wonderful dances, box steps two, three, and four,
Ruffles and bow ties, cravats, and sleek satins, orchid in a box, holding the door.
Swing Time, The Big Bands, and Orchestras. Leaders in tails and white ties
Playing love songs, Boogie, and memories, bringing smiles and tears to dry eyes.
